Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers.

The S.H.A.R.P. Mind Protocol is mental performance training for chefs and hospitality professionals. Six modules, twelve minutes a day. Below is everything people ask before enrolling, and most of what they ask after. If something isn't here, write to me, and I'll answer it, then add it.

Who This Training Is For

Is this for chefs or for front-of-house?

Both. Whether it's a printer that won't stop or a guest who won't stop, the stress response is the same. This was built for anyone working in a high-pressure hospitality room: line, pass, bar, floor, or office.

I'm not on the line anymore. I manage. Is this still for me?

Yes, and the load is different, not lighter. Managers take on other people's stress as well as their own, which is a specific problem with a specific answer. That's what the fifth pillar is for.

Who is this not for?

This isn't for anyone looking for a quick fix, a passive wellness product, or a result without effort. It's also not right for anyone in crisis right now. That requires a clinician, not a course.

Do I need any experience with this kind of practice?

None. The protocol assumes you have never done any of this. Every practice is guided start to finish.

How the Twelve-Minute Practice Works

What actually happens in a twelve-minute session?

You sit down, you press play, and I talk you through it. Each module trains one specific skill, so what you do in Module 2 is not what you do in Module 5. Nothing to memorize, nothing to perform, no one watching.

Do I need a quiet room?

You need a place where you won't be interrupted for twelve minutes. That's the only requirement. A break room before service, your car in the lot, or a dry storage room, if that's what you have, will work. Ideally, it's quieter than most people in this industry will ever get, but workable is enough.

Do I have to practice every day?

Daily is the goal because that's what builds a habit. But to be clear about the evidence: the strongest findings come from Jha's military work, where the Marines who held their attention under pressure practiced about twelve minutes a day on average. The training program built out of that research asks for a similar amount three to four days a week, not seven. So aim for daily, and know that four honest days beat seven half-hearted ones.

What if I fall behind?

The content waits. Your stress doesn't. Five minutes daily beats an hour on Sunday. Fall off, start again the next day. Nothing expires while you're away. It's one payment, no subscription, and no renewal.

How long before I notice results?

It depends on how much you practice, and I can't promise you a date. Some people notice the catch—the half-second when you realize you're about to snap and don't—within the first couple of weeks. I won't give you a timeline for brain changes; those studies used more than double this daily dose and didn't find that practice predicted the result. This protocol offers a trainable skill and a way to check whether it's working: your own Log.

Can I do this while I'm working?

Not the twelve minutes. That's the drill, and a drill needs a controlled setting. What happens on the line is the application: noticing, redirecting, and making that half-second choice. You train in quiet so you can use it in the noise.

What Comes With the S.H.A.R.P. Mind Protocol

What's included?

Six modules. Five guided twelve-minute practices, one for each pillar. Each module comes with a one-page Reference Card designed to fit in a jacket pocket, not a binder. You also get The Debrief and The Log for every pillar, plus the Live Community Sessions.

How long do I have access?

You pay once. No subscription, no renewal, and nothing to cancel. Any module updates through November 20, 2026 are included.

What are the Live Community Sessions?

There is a weekly group practice and a monthly live Q&A with me. These are not a bonus tier. Practicing with others is the most reliable way to keep a practice going past week three, which is why they're part of the structure, not an upsell.

Is there a certificate?

There's a badge track: Line Checks through the modules, a Practice Check, and The Pass at the end. It's a record of your work. It is not a professional credential, and I won't pretend it is.

Who sees what I write?

Nobody. The Debrief and The Log are kept off the platform, never graded, and I don't read them. If your employer buys seats for a team, individual responses are never shared with them. This is built into the structure, not just a policy I could change later.

Price, Enrollment, and Guarantees

Why is Module 1 free?

You shouldn't have to pay to find out whether I'm worth listening to and practicing with. Module 1 is the full module, not just a preview. It includes a little over 60 minutes of video, the Station Card, the Debrief, and a clear picture of what this industry is doing to its people. Try it, then decide.

What does it cost, and why does the price change?

$234 now. The price goes up to $334 once all six modules are published on November 20, 2026. The difference is the value of buying before it's finished.

The protocol isn't finished. What am I buying today?

Module 1 is live now and free. Modules 2 through 6 will be published on a schedule, with all six available by Friday, November 20, 2026.

All six modules will be published by Friday, November 20, 2026. If they are not, write to me, and I will refund you in full, whether or not you have used what has already shipped and no matter how long you have been enrolled. This promise is separate from the thirty-day guarantee and does not expire after thirty days.

What's the guarantee?

Thirty days, unconditional. It's not thirty days only if you do the work—it's unconditional. Module 1 is free, so you know what you're buying before you pay. The delivery promise above is in addition to this and runs separately.

Can I get my employer to pay for this?

Often, yes. Most operators have a training and development budget and have never been asked to use it here. Write to me, and I'll send you language you can share with your supervisor or GM.

Can I buy this for my team?

Not yet. Team pricing opens after the full protocol publishes. Write to me, and I'll let you know when.

Safety, Side Effects, and Scope

Is this therapy?

No. This is training, not treatment. It does not replace psychiatric or psychological care. If you are in crisis right now, you need a clinician, not a course. This is a set of trainable skills for people whose work runs them hot.

Can mindfulness practice have side effects?

Yes. Attention training is not risk-free, and anyone who says otherwise is selling something. Some people experience increased anxiety, a sense of detachment, or difficult memories coming up. The full details, including which pillars carry which risks and what to do about them, are on the safety and suitability page.

I have a history of mental health challenges. Can I do this?

Possibly, but it depends on details I can't assess from a web page. Some conditions make intensive attention practice riskier, especially PTSD and complex trauma, bipolar disorder, and psychotic disorders. Read the safety and suitability page and talk to your clinician. Module 1 contains no guided practice, so you can complete the free module and decide afterward.

Your tagline says "Stop The Burnout." Does this course actually stop burnout?

The tagline states direction, not a clinical claim.

Burnout in this industry is driven largely by conditions—hours, staffing, workload, how a house is run. No course changes your schedule. If anyone tells you a training program will fix a structural problem, walk away.

This training addresses your side of it. Where your attention goes. How you hold your own thinking. What your body is telling you before you notice it. The patterns you run on autopilot. How you treat yourself when the night goes sideways.

That is the part you can train. It is not everything. It is not nothing.

"Stop The Burnout" is where the work points. It is not a promise about where you will land.

I'm not a consultant with a clipboard. I know the sixty-hour weeks and the crash after. I built this because I got tired of watching good people burn out.

Do you actually do this yourself?

Yes. I practice about thirty-five minutes most days and do a silent retreat once a year. I'm sharing this so you know the person selling you a practice actually does it, not to suggest twelve minutes is merely a starting point.

Twelve is what the research supports and what this program asks of you. What I do on my own time is my own practice, and it isn't required for you.

Module 1 of the S.H.A.R.P. Mind Protocol is free.

No card, no trial period. Take it and decide afterward.
